Photographs of Home

This is mostly for me when I get homesick.
Some of the things I'll miss most from home.
Image heavy, so the rest is behind the jump.

The view walking back to my dorm. Nothing like walking towards the Empire State Building every day to get home to cheer you up. I'm so spoiled.

The view from my room.

The bell tower about four blocks south of my dorm. Ever since I lived in Venice for a month I find the hourly ringing of church bells to be remarkably comforting. Although I must say, I loved the arbitrariness of the bell tower nearest my apartment in Venice. I think it rang 68 times once.

How busy New York City is. Those are cars stopped at a red light a block down. They're waiting, waiting, waiting for the green light. I love knowing that there's always going to be someone going somewhere.

The street signals I never follow.

The subway! More specifically, the 1 train, which takes me to one of my favorite places in all of NYC- the Metropolitan Opera House.

Duane Reade. Best drug store, hands down.

The bizarre architecture combinations. Gorgeous buildings which start in Pinkberry's. Apparently the roofs of Czech buildings are beautiful. Hard to see the roofs around here.

The grid system! So easy. Don't try to argue otherwise.

The arch in Washington Square Park. I do love a good classical architectural reference.
